Rainbow Farm – providing a home for young children from the inner city
Located near Belo Horizonte, one of the largest cities in Brazil, this residential farm project aims to help abandoned and abused children by providing them with a place to live on a short or long term basis. Set in the countryside of Minas Gerais, the farm acts as the perfect antidote to the dangers of living on the streets of the big city.
The project creates a family atmosphere in which the children participate through classroom activities as well as having access to counselling and personal support when necessary. Rainbow farm’s purpose is to give the children hope and a more positive life with the objective of ultimately finding them new adoptive families. It also acts as a place for children who do have a family to enjoy a free holiday weekend away when they might not otherwise get the chance.
ABC contributed to the running costs of the Farm in 2006 as well as the construction of a workers’ house. In 2006 ABC also invited Rainbow Farm to be one of the beneficiaries of the Silverstone Grand Prix Ball 2006 charity fundraiser.
