Composer, producer and one of the world's most influential rock guitarists and founder of Led Zeppelin. Highly sought after as a studio guitarist
even in his teens, he worked with The Who, Joe Cocker
and Burt Bacharach, before joining The Yardbirds.
In 1968 he founded
Led Zeppelin with bassist John Paul Jones, singer
Robert Plant and drummer John Bonham, selling out arenas for more than a decade.
He wrote and co-wrote many of Led Zeppelin's songs,
and produced all of their albums.
1994 saw the
release of 'No Quarter'. Whilst promoting the
album in Brazil, he became more aware of the situation
facing children in the favelas, and felt compelled to
help. His first donation started 'Casa Jimmy'
in Rio.
Jimmy became
a founding patron of ABC in late 1997 and was awarded
the OBE in June 2005 for his charity work with Brazilian
children. |
