A founding member
of Queen, Brian May is a unique rock guitarist, prolific
songwriter and producer. With Queen, he sold out
stadiums throughout the 1980s.
Some of his most famous work includes 'We Will Rock
You', 'I Want It All' and 'Who Wants to Live Forever'.
His songs continue to be re-interpreted today, inspiring
Shirley Bassey, Metallica and the Royal Philharmonic
Orchestra among others.
He has also been deeply involved in the development
of the record-breaking musical 'We Will Rock You', still
playing in its fifth year at the Dominion Theatre in
London. Brian recently completed his Astrophysics
PhD at Imperial College, London, which he had abandoned
to establish Queen in the 1970s. In spring 2006, Brian
was awarded the CBE for his services to music and his
charity work.
Brian May agreed to become a patron for ABC after joining
Jimmy Page as a judge in the ABC Riffathon events, which
sought the best up-and-coming young guitarist in the
UK. |
